Dr. Miguel Duarte is a certified Psychiatrist and Psychotherapist based in Geneva, Switzerland.
After earning his medical degree in 2012, Dr. Duarte focused on Adult Psychiatry and Psychotherapy, gaining experience at the CHUV (Lausanne) and the HUG (Geneva) in Switzerland.
His early and lasting interest in evidence-based psychotherapy interventions drove him to continuously learn and explore up-to-date psychotherapy models. Besides his standard FMH psychodynamic therapy specialization, he holds a title of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy practitioner, certifications in Dialectic Based Therapy and Mentalization Based Therapy, and is currently pursuing certification in Transference-Focused Psychotherapy. As a side interest, he invested in a second FMH therapy certification in Jungian Analytic Psychology at the CG Jung-Institut Zürich. His diverse experience includes working in specialized psychiatric programs like ESCAL (eating disorders), LIC (suicide crisis), and TRE (borderline personality disorder).
At TRE (HUG), he co-managed a program focusing on Mentalization-Based Therapy for Borderline Personality Disorder, gaining wide experience in process-based therapies for personality disorders. Dr. Duarte actively engages with the scientific community, particularly in the debate on personality disorder classification, having published in peer-reviewed scientific journals.
Beyond his clinical work, Dr. Duarte shares his expertise through teaching positions at HUG, HEdS, CG Jung-Institut Zürich and frequently engaging in public talks and seminars. His integrative approach to mental health, blending a humanistic and scientific understanding, creates a supportive environment for clients seeking therapy.
